To celebrate my 25th birthday this year, Travel Buddy/Best Friend and I booked a trip to Seattle, WA.

I live in Southern California and let me tell you, it’s hot here. It’s summer all year-round and we get about five rainy days a year. And I’m a huge fan of rain and the cold. I feel the most creative and productive when it’s cold and gloomy out. The heat just makes me want to hide indoors in the AC and that’s exactly what I do.

So places like Seattle, WA have always called my name. The cold makes me happy and so do trees. Did you know that trees and buildings could co-exist together? Not in Southern California. In SoCal, as the cool kids call it, it is just a hot mess of buildings and sun. We’re also in a drought, so we can’t even care for whatever green we had left. Just buildings, heat, sun, and pavement. Ick.

Seattle was Cheetos Puffs good. You enjoy eating Cheetos Puffs and, when you are done, the enjoyment continues because you get to lick your fingers. Even going to sleep in Seattle was great because you could either fall asleep or wake up to the sound of rain. Plus, I think people love powder down there, if you know what I mean. (whispers) Drugs. Hence, I can really only say two things were noticeably disappointing about Seattle.

There are really weird people (powder lovers) and the nightlife is lacking during the week. But I consider those minor disappointments.

Highlights of the trip:
There was a coffee shop every five seconds. Biscuit Bitch was my favorite. I MEAN THE NAME. Anything slightly crude will instantly draw my attention. Not to mention, their coffee was amazing. Their biscuits also looked and smelled amazing but I never have an appetite in the morning and they closed at 2.

We went on the most beautiful hike at Discovery Park. Hands down the best hike I’ve been on. It was more of a walk than a hike but it was beautiful nonetheless.

There was a bar called Sam’s Tavern and we met a really cool bartender (hey nice face, right?) He took the time to get to know me and Travel Buddy and gave me a drink on the house for my birthday. Not to mention, he kicked us out in the nicest way possible. Letting us choose a song for our exit. No Diggity by Blackstreet will forever make me smile.

Thank you Seattle for showing me your culture, your crazy people, your coffee, and your beautiful scenery. I look forward to seeing you again. And if you decide to go, check out the places I mentioned, you won’t regret it.

Until the next UFO landing, I will be here in Southern California enjoying the heat and the concrete. Honest Alien out.
